About Koreanalysis

Koreanalysis started from a frustration I kept running into as an individual investor: most English-language coverage of Korean markets is either a wire-service headline with no context, or a sell-side note nobody outside an institution ever sees. The stories that actually explain *why* something happened in Korea's markets — the mechanics behind a currency intervention, why a specific export data point spooked traders for a week, how a pension fund's rebalancing rules quietly move prices — rarely make it into anything written in English.

I write this site alongside a day job in supply chain and procurement, where I handle contract negotiation, cost structure analysis, and supply-demand forecasting for a living. I hold a certification in standard cost analysis and have spent years building the kind of cost models that force you to understand *why* a number is what it is, not just what it is. That habit — distrusting a headline number until you've traced where it came from — is the same instinct I bring to reading a Korean export report or a central bank statement.

I've also been investing in Korean and US equities since 2012. That's long enough to have sat through a few cycles of "this time the Korea Discount finally closes" optimism followed by the usual disappointment, which is probably why I'm more interested in mechanisms than in narratives — what actually moves a price, not just what story explains it after the fact.

How I Work

Every article starts from primary sources — company disclosures on DART, Bank of Korea and government data, and reputable financial news — rather than from someone else's summary of them. Where I reference another analyst's or outlet's reporting, I cite it and build my own analysis on top of it rather than repackaging it. I'd rather publish fewer, more carefully reasoned pieces than chase volume for its own sake.

What This Site Is Not

I'm not a licensed financial advisor, and nothing here is investment advice. I'm an individual investor writing about markets I follow closely, for other people trying to understand the same things I am. Treat every article as one well-researched perspective, not a recommendation — and see our Terms of Service for the full disclaimer.
